The benefits of cooking from scratch
Aside from the feeling of accomplishment that you'll get after you have made your first bread, milk, yogurt, or pizza dough, there are great advantages to being able to cook from basic ingredients.
Have you ever looked at the ingredients in a peanut butter jar? How many are there?
Here's an example from a famous brand:
"Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Contains 2% or Less of: Molasses, Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed and Soybean), Mono and Diglycerides, Salt"
When you make peanut butter with a Thermomix, do you know how many ingredients you need?
One! = Peanuts! (and peanut oil for consistency)
Being able to know what's in your food and when it was made is priceless. Being able to cook it from fresh ingredients is healthier for you and your family and the taste is really much better.
See on the top bar examples of made-from-scratch food: Bread and pizza dough, strawberry jam, yogurt, dumplings, vegetable stock (ohhh, the soups are now happy!!), "the shopping cart difference" in one picture, peanut butter, chicken nuggets, and horchata made from tiger nuts.
The benefits of steaming your food
Have you ever heard of "Steamed Carrot Cake"? No? I had not heard about it either, but everyone was talking about it on a Thermomix Facebook group so I had to try it and... oh my! I will never buy a carrot cake in a store, this one is too good to be true!
What else do I steam? Many things! Veggies, fish, chicken, eggs, flan, dumplings... see the pictures above for more examples. Steaming preserves more flavor and nutrients, lowers cholesterol, and makes a healthier lifestyle.
How do you steam?
The Thermomix comes with many attachments, one of them is the varoma (that big dish you see in the pictures above that can fit a whole chicken). The varoma goes on top of the mixing bowl. The recipe will call for some liquid to be in the bowl that will boil and create steam. You could be cooking a soup in the bowl, veggies in the base of the varoma, and salmon on the tray of the varoma! That would be a multi-level dish that would save you a lot of time while you are eating healthier than ever.
The Thermomix has a huge percentage of recipes that are self-contained (I took it to a hotel suite and cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a dance team!). There are many recipes that start in the Thermomix and end in the oven (but the instructions are still given step-by-step on the screen). And there is a smaller percentage of recipes that need the stove at some point (for example, the paella is cooked inside the Thermomix but it needs to rest in the big round pan for the last 10 minutes).
The Dummy Cook's Purpose
Have you ever discovered something so life-changing that you could not forgive yourself if you didn't share it with the rest of the world and you wished everyone would be able to experience what you are experiencing?
Of course, you have! For many that's love (you have found the love of your life and you wish everyone was as lucky as you are); for others, that's a hobby, a passion, something they are good at; for many, that's just a good restaurant (how many of you post about your favorite places on Facebook, right?), a city or country they visited during their holiday... It could be something small, like a home gadget that makes your life easier, or something really big like religion.
In any case, it's in our nature to want to share with others our discoveries and our passions and it makes us really happy when our friends share our experiences and agree with us (it's something between an "I told you so" and a "right?? I feel even more connected to you now").
Well, that's what I'm doing with Thermomix:
Because I was amazed when I discovered it, I bought it.
Because I was in awe every day during the first month, I became a consultant.
Because I loved sharing my passion and helping my fellow consultants, I became a team leader.
Because I wanted to reach as many people as possible, I started a YouTube channel.
And now, I'm starting this website so I can have all the information possible in one place:
-
Information about Thermomix: how it works, the history, why it's good for everyone
-
Explainer videos, tutorials, testimonials, fun videos...
-
Menu options for cooking classes, cooking experiences, parties, special diets...
-
Event calendar: trade shows, farmers' markets, vendor events, cooking classes...
-
Light catering services: Bday parties, Baby Showers, Bachelorette parties...
-
